7-day tour around Shanghai, China

Day 1: Arrival in Shanghai

Today we arrived in Shanghai, which is not within 144 hours (144 hours starts from 0:00 on the second day of arrival). After arrival, we checked into the hotel and took a short rest.

  • Evening: Visit Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, which is one of the most prosperous commercial streets in Shanghai, and you can taste a variety of authentic snacks.

Day 2: Shanghai

  • Morning: Visit Yu Garden and City God Temple. Yu Garden is a classical garden with Ming Dynasty style, and City God Temple is one of the folk culture landmarks in Shanghai.
  • Noon: Enjoy lunch around Yu Garden and try some traditional Shanghai dishes such as Xiaolongbao.
  • Afternoon: Go to Tianzifang, which is an artistic area with many creative shops and art studios.
  • Evening: Overlook the city night view from Shanghai Jinmao Tower or Oriental Pearl Tower, and feel the unique charm of Shanghai as an international metropolis.

Day 3: Hangzhou - Songcheng Eternal Love

  • Morning: Take the high-speed train to Hangzhou (about 1.5 hours by car), and upon arrival, head directly to West Lake, one of the most famous attractions in Hangzhou, known for its beautiful landscape.
  • Noon: Enjoy lunch by the West Lake, and try local dishes such as Longjing shrimp.
  • Afternoon: Visit Leifeng Pagoda or Yuewang Temple to experience the history and culture.
  • Evening: Go to Songcheng to watch the performance of "Songcheng Eternal Love", a large-scale stage play that showcases traditional Chinese culture and historical stories.

Day 4: Wuzhen

  • Morning: Take the high-speed train or long-distance bus to Wuzhen (about 1.5 to 2 hours by car), Wuzhen is a well-preserved ancient water town in the south of the Yangtze River, famous for its quaint streets and canals.
  • Noon: Enjoy lunch in the ancient town and taste Jiangnan special snacks.
  • Afternoon: Visit Wuzhen East or West, experience the water town style, visit ancient bridges, old streets and traditional handicraft shops.
  • Evening: Return to Hangzhou or head directly to Suzhou.

Day 5: Suzhou

  • Morning: Visit the Humble Administrator's Garden, one of the four famous gardens in China, famous for its exquisite garden layout and classical architecture.
  • Lunch: Have dinner near Pingjiang Road and enjoy Suzhou special snacks.
  • Afternoon and Evening: Go to Qilishantang for a boat ride and enjoy a Suzhou Pingtan performance in the evening, Pingtan is a traditional rap art form known for its delicate emotional expression and beautiful melody.

Day 6: Return to Shanghai

  • Morning: Visit the Suzhou Museum to learn about the cultural history of Suzhou. The museum was designed by I.M. Pei and combines modern and classical elements.
  • Lunch: Taste special food in Suzhou.
  • Afternoon: Take the high-speed rail back to Shanghai.
    -Evening: Visit the Bund, an iconic area in Shanghai with rows of historical buildings and charming views of the Huangpu River.

Day 7: Departure from Shanghai

  • Buy souvenirs at a local market in Shanghai, then head to the airport to end the trip.
